The Boat, Custom House Square
Custom House Square is a prestigious €7 million mixed-use building in a very prominent part of Belfast at Custom House Square, adjacent to the River Lagan. The building is fourteen storeys high, comprising 4,200 square metres, including eight penthouse apartments.
The building is constructed with a reinforced concrete frame and features a unique curved glass façade which has led it to being named locally as "the Boat." Coloured aluminium "picture frames" surround the balcony windows at various locations on the façade giving it a look that will be unique to Belfast.
Access to the basement car park is achieved by using a vehicle lift.
The works package included all formwork operations over 14 floors including pile caps, ground beams, construction of basement car park, double lift shafts, car lift shaft to basement, stairwells, radius columns, and floor decks.
The works was completed in April 2009, with no incidents or reportable accidents.
